I see the sparks in the sky, today on the fourth of July, flashes of red and white, stand regal sharing the sky with the moon ,I honor survivers on what they have done , today is the birthday of our nation.
Above is a picture of me and my dance group. the name of our dance was So It Is. this dance portrayed a women who loved her husband dearly but couldn't see him very often due to her obligations of helping children do what they love. so a lot of times she had to sacrifice spending time with her husband to be apart of these kids lives. This dance represented an internal struggle to choose what she should do.
But this dance had two parts to it. The other part of the dance showed how valuable her time was with her husband when she did get to see him. "I cant take my eyes of you" as said in the chorus of the song was definitely portrayed in this piece as well. The joy the couple felt in each others presence was magical. During the dance the audience felt a number of emotions. Some cried some smiled but one thing is for certain this dance moved many viewers. This piece speaks to me because this is an iconic picture from a soldier coming home from war. The bright colors to me symbolize the emotion coming from the kiss, the happiness of his return and the hurt from all the days the wife had to go worrying about her husband while he was in combat.
I love how the artist almost make the couple look like they are glowing and then the colors spit out from their embrace. This really lets the viewer almost feel the emotion they had for each other at this very moment. I also like how the piece looks never ending and the stokes of color go all the way to the border of the building. This picture almost makes me envy the love the two characters have for each other. The never endless look that the artist portrays makes me as a viewer think that the artist wanted that to represent their never ending love for one another. |

I was inspired to capture this image at the KSU holocaust museum, because the butterfly looks as if it is in captivity and we as people don't usually see butterflies in doors. the butterfly also looks like it is glowing. This photo signifies all the life's that were lost and all the people that were kept in captivity during the holocaust. How their spirits craved for freedom, the butterfly in his picture crave for the same. |
